234 mounted picker

I was woundering how many if any IH 234 mounted pickers came with the sheller attachment? or if it was even an option on the 234? And where a guy might go to find a good picker with a sheller and mounts for a Farmall 560D?

The 234 was primarily sold as with the husking unit and the sheller units were sold with many of the pickers. I helped a neighbor that owned a 234 mounted on a 706 and they had both the husking and the shelling units before they bought a self propelled combine.

These also had a non-husking hopper that merely delivered the un-husked ears to the elevator. I believe they were used mostly for seed corn harvesting.

Keep looking on the adds as they do show up from time to time. Your 560 will be a little short on power with the sheller low side of low will be plenty fast enough as that picker would make an 806 snort in 160 bu corn.

Okay. Thanks i will keep looking. I havent got a 560 yet but that is what i plan on putting a picker on if i am ever lucky enough to find one. Always liked the 560D

We ran a 560 with the 234 with both husking unit and sheller, 2nd gear, tractor worked real well with it, brings back good memories, would like to see it in the field again. The 234 was the best picker I have ever seen easy on and off

We have a 234 picker that we had mounted on a 560D and it worked very well. We had both the husking and the shelling units. We have not used it for many years but it has been sheded all these years and would like to sell it.

Thanks guys. I have always wanted a picker, A good friend of mine picked up a JD 60 with a JD 227 picker a few years back and that has really got me ichin to get one. Just outta curiousty where abouts do you live Alvin? Probley along way from me. I personally have never seen a 234 in person and very few 560D. They were not common at all up here in Ontario. I do plan on using it if i ever get one thats why i what the sheller to cause i have no need for whole ear corn. I have a dairy operation. Thanks to all who have responded.

I was at an auction the last week of September; a 1967 - the last production year 234 that had been Farmall 460 mounted sold for $160. The picker sold first, I got the 460 from the original owner, fender-less. Everything was always shedded and in good condition. Good luck on your search.
