1206 referbish

I am attaching some photos and have some questions as there are some inconsistencies in what I a am seeing in the parts book and what I am seeing on the tractor. As you look at the pic with the gauges you will see that there are two on the right a fuel gauge that works intermittently and a temp that doesn't. The parts book says it should have a duel gauge in that location. Now, can someone please tell me what the two warning lights are for? All they say are "Emergency Warning Flasher" on both lights. Now on the left is what appears to me to be an add on gauge that doesn't work and its not labeled at all. It just has a red and a green dot which I believe may have been an Amp meter. Can some one identify please?

Now one more question for this session is on the next picture of the steering column you will see the throttle control and steering wheel. It looks to me that there is a cover plate missing from between the column and the throttle that would cover the top of the throttle shaft. Am I right? If it is, can someone tell me or show me what it looks like or what should be there? The parts book also says it has a windshield wiper. Yea you guessed it. No windshield wiper and cant find any place where one was ever mounted. There is also a red light on the lower area of the right hand panel that doesn't do anything that I can tell. Anyone know what it is for? Also it looks to me like the original light switch is missing and someone replaced it with something from NAPA. what all did it original control? And Is it worth replacing or should I just build a complete switch panel since I am going to have to install extra lighting to keep the law happy? you can see the switch I am speaking of in The second picture I think. Somebody changed your gages. Those are stewart Warners not IH and the two chromed indicator lights are FOrd MOtor COmpany. and yes the light switch is wrong too. This is whats supposed to be there.


The bottom gage is an air filter service indicator. There is no cover plate for the throttle area.

OK. Well we know about the gauges now and switch now. Any Idea what the lights are for or the right and left and right sides are for? Did IH us warning lights for something on this model? And what about that gauge on the lower right side? And what about the area of the throttle control?

If you look close at the gage picture there is an OIL and AMP light on it. Its a 4 way gage. Thats what the two lights were added for on yours.

The gage with the green and red indicators is an air filter service indicator, when the filter gets restricted the gage shows red and the filter needs serviced. They don't move much.

The throttle area is complete, just dirty.

Maybe this will help, its a 1256 but should all be the same

Thanks so much. Where did you get the pictures? I want to refurbish this but I also want to add a couple of gauges to the tractor. I want to put a Vacuum / Boost Gauge on it along with a Volt Meter and Oil temp and Transmission / Hydraulic temp gauge. Do you know the cost of the duel gauge? Also
it appears that the original light control gauge doesn't support all the function that /I will need to keep the local police happy. We now have to have road lights separate from the field lights, Turn signal lights, Hazard warning lights separate from the other lighting. They are making us have the same standards of lighting and all as an automobile. Its a real pain in the neck. I think what I will do it try to get the duel gauge if I can afford it and then build a separate lighting control panel. They are even making us light the Slow Moving Vehicle placards now, and tail lights and all including turn signals on any of the towed equipment. I hate these west coast invaders. But I did want to ask if you had access to the operators manual and if its in electronic format, could you get me a copy? let me know and I will send you my email. tach is out of a 66 series as well.

Thanks. I am beginning to think that I will clean up What I have, Use whats working and Build a new panel to function like I want it to. It the road speed on this tach acurate to this model tractor?

Your 1206 is much more valuable with the FoMoCo indicator lights on it.

they are normally close, not right on though.
It reallt all depends which tractor the tach came out of.
