Correct TG Install

In HS my best pal's oder brother owned a body shop. He paid us 50 cents an hour to sand cars, file lead, prime and prep cars. We worked like slaves in a barely heated shop, listening to Wolfman Jack on KOMA. But we learned a good trade. On my 16th birthday I rolled out a brand new 40 Ford Coupe, I had been working on for 2 years, 24 coats of hand rubbed black lacquer and a built flathead with heads, headers, twin Stromberg 97's, lakes pipes, and 212 louvers in the hood. Sadly only one little black and white photo of it.

Gordo, I have a M and a recently aquired Super M with Charlyn power steering, not nearly as nice looking as yours. Both hoods are hammered out to clear the unit. Going to start "restoring" the SM in a few months. Provided I can find a hood, what do I do to make the unit clear? It needs to be lowered. Someone mentioned this, but I do not have the thread.

Did you get a NOS TG or did you restore it? I suppose it could be current production but wouldn't that decal say Eaton or Parker?

It was the original unit. I carefully removed the decal prior to rebuiding it. Then reapplied the decal.

I think the key is the bracket for the TG and the gauges, If you have the orignal paperwork for install of the kit it shows how it all works together. I have the original CharLyn papers and all the kit instructions. To do it correct now requires a lot of homework, searches on ebay, and knowledge of that rare Saginaw pump, and the correct swivel and longitudinal coupler.
