I recently bought a 1468. It has 4027 original hours on it. Still runs on 4cyls at idil, and it carrys 70 psi of oil pressure at 1500rpm at operating temp. My question is should i replace the crank mains and the rod bearings to avoid having one spin? or just leave things well enough alone? And what seemed to be the reason for seeing so many of them with spun bearings? I do use the tractor for spring tillage and cuttin hay and running the harvester. Thank you in advance for time and info. Its greatly apperaciated.

Have you tried the IH Forum group? They are a sharp bunch with a lot of years of experience in any and all models. Give them a shout. I am sure some there have experienced engine failures as well as rebuilding them.

It certainly would not hurt to examine the bearings. the crankshafts in those engines are considered non-regrindable due to the manufacturing process that was used. As a result the only bearings available are standard size.
