I seemed to have left my I&T manual at work, and I'm getting ready to go get fluids for my Farmall C tractor. I was wondering if anyone knew off hand how much fluid the Touch Control unit on a Farmall C takes, and what kind of fluid I should be using? Any help would be appreciated, thanks a ton YT!!

A SC/200/230 without the remote or Fast-Hitch takes 8 3/4 pints... I think the C would be the same. IH Hy-Tran or equivalent would be the fluid.

The C takes about 3 quarts. Do not over-fill the unit. It is supposed to be about 1/2 inch below the fill opening. The system does NOT have a vent system so as the fluid heats up it expands. If there is no air space in the unit it will blow one of the "freeze" plugs. The other thing could be an oil bath when you loosen the fill plug. Take my word for this one. Use a good hydraulic oil. I get mine from TSC.

Thanks. Would it hurt it to see if it fires, without filling it? I'm not going to have time to run to TSC before work today (where I keep the C) but I would like to see if it starts. Is this a bad idea with no fluid in the touch control unit??

Depends on how much you value your pump. If you plan to replace your pump shortly, go ahead.... otherwise you shouldn't run your pump dry.

Well I did fire it up today. But didn't let it run for more than but 10, maybe 15 seconds. Going to change the oil tomorrow, fill the touch control up, and take it for its maiden voyage.
