Number Series

John Deere had a D. E & F are "sharp" sounding letters, not conducive to sales. G was being used by Mother Deere, so H was the next nice letter. I, J, K, & L don't ring well either so they chose M. That's my take on it.
H = Handsome
M = Manly

There was an MD (diesel) so D was used. To me E would sound kind of wierd, I would put I,J,K and maybe L in the same category. Earlier there was an F12, F20, and F30. There were also a lot of experimental models that may have used the other letters -- otherwise, the sequence does not have to make sense. A group of people just got together and decided, or maybe the CEO did it.

(quoted from post at 15:16:38 11/21/10) Why the missing letters of the alphabet? Did Farmall ever make a D, E, F or G? Or how about between H and M?

The chief engineer had daughters named Adalade, Beatrice, Charlotte, Harriet and Mary.... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
