third hole beside the cam shaft retaining bolts

There is a third bolt hole in the block behind the cam shaft gear. It is beside the cam shaft retaining bolt holes.

This is on a Super AV. What is the third hole for? I"m build from the block up. The parts manual doesnt show what goes in this hole?

Thanks,
Sam

I'm trying to visualize it, but since I've never had a C113 or C123 apart, I'm not much help.

On second thought, if you go to the Case-IH site and do the parts look-up thing, you should be able to see what goes in there.

I think you might be seeing a 1/4'' pipe plug hole for the end of the oil galley. Along the side of the block are other plugs that line up with the oil filter. Remove one of those and stick a wire in the one by the cam gear and see if it lines up. If so, it needs to be plugged. There is also one on the rear of the block that should be plugged.
Check it out and let us know.
