1943 Farmall A front crank seal leaking...

Removing the cover and to replace the seal is the standard way of doing it.
If you can work the seal out of the cover I don"t see why you can"t tap the new one in without removing the cover.

Yes, it goes in from the back of the front engine cover. You also have to remove the pulley from the front of the crank to get at it.

You need to inspect that hub on the damper pulley for a worn groove caused by the old seal being brittle from age. You may need a speedi-sleeve to cover that area and a new seal. Napa should have them. Hal

First you need to remove radiator and steering assy as the pulley does not come off without removing the steering assy. Then use a bearing puler behind the pulley so you dont break it. Then the front cover can be removed and you probably will need the speedy sleeve i get mine from CAR QUEST sleeve costs less than 10 bucks. The pulley should be pressed back as they are a press fit remember if you heat it the new seal mite not like the hi-temp therefore pressing back is the best idea.
