tractor problems

I have an IH 856 tractor and I just put in a hydraulic pump and a power steering pump and I have no steering/pto/brakes, does anybody have a solution? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you either need to check the oil level(s) or prime the pumps. That's assuming the old pumps were working. What was wrong with them?

The tractor started by not having pto then it had some steering but I thought it was the pumps so I put new ones in and now I have nothing all the time. A guy called me this morning and said it was the clutch.

I think the guy who told you clutch was on the right track. The backing plate on the clutch drives the pto and all hydraulic pumps. The splines strip out on shaft and backing plate. Can take a look under clutch and if you have fine shavings you know where the problem is . It is kind of hard to see the actual splines where they strip off but it can be done.

The other guys have it right. The splines shot on the pressure plate or the short shaft. If the PTO wont work it"s the spline. Just open the cover under the clutch with it running and a light you can see it turn or not.on the back of the clutch.
