How to remove stuck wheel wedge bolts

Just to let you know for next time. When ever me and my dad are trying to get a rusty bolt off we use trans. oil now. We found out that works the best. We have changed 3sets of tires with rusted bolt in about 45min just because we used trans oil. It would have been at least double without it.

I know no one here suggested this but, just to refresh all of our memories about safety around mounted tires. Never put external heat to a wheel while the tire is mounted and inflated. There are documented stories about the inside of the tire initiating heat buildup (pyrolysis) internally and blowing up with great force sometime after the heat was applied.

I know you all know this, but it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves.

Would removing the valve stem core negate this issue?

I think the tire blowing up is when you apply hear
to the rim and the air expands so fast that the
tire explodes.

Heating the wedge on the axle won't heat up the
rim.

If it's rusted that bad You will need to heat up
the wedge to get the bolt out and in the end may
need a new wedge.

Once I got by with some grade 8 bolts and nuts.
Had to grind down the nut to work.

You can't just dump oil on a rusty bolt and expect instant results.

For the oil to do any good it has to get in BETWEEN the bolt and the threads, or the bolt and the hole. When you're talking about rusty bolts, there's almost ZERO room for the oil to get in.

If you've got the time, you really need to spritz a little bit of actual penetrating oil on the bolt every day for several days. Soaking the area heavily is a waste of oil, as most of it just runs off.

If you ain't got time, penetrating oil is a waste of money. Heat is the only way you're going to get instant results on a stuck bolt.

When someone tells you Brand X penetrating oil is great because they sprayed it on a bolt and it came right out, that bolt wasn't stuck.

When someone tells you Brand Y penetrating oil is no good because they sprayed it on a bolt and it did NOT come right out, they don't understand how penetrating oil works.
