Tire Chain newbie question

I have been plowing driveway snow with my 300U for a long time without chains with only an occasional slipping problem.
I have a very aggressive set of chains with large rings that I adjusted down from an M 38's to my 13.6x 28's.
These old chains have the same connectors on the inside and outside.
Here's a simple question that may be unimportant but it is on my mind.
When mounting the chains do you long time chain users usually drape the connector ends from back to front over the top of the tire or front to back.
I am going to use 4 bungees on the outside of each tire as tensioners.
Any other tips.
Thanks,
Dell

Doesn"t matter. Front to back or back to front.

But there is an top and bottom (the side of the cross links that is against tire is the bottom) to the chains.

You want the flat side of the link that hooks the cross chains to the side chains against the tire.

I let alot of the air out of the tire first then drape the chains and get them fastened.

When you reair them up they fit nice and tight ,i still throw some bungie cords on to keep any slack out.

I lay out about 4' of chain and drive onto that. THen drape the remainder over the top and down to the loose end at the bottom. This allows most of the weight to hang on the tire. Then I attach the inside of the chain to the loose end at the bottom.
Then adjust the cross links to make them as nice as I cam and hook up the outside connection. If it is loose I will drive it forward and back 50' to get it normalized, then take out links to shorten it.
I believe in snug but not tight chains. Jim.

I used to blade the driveway with my 450 and a heavy 7 ft MF blade without chains until I moved back to Iowa. After the first winter here I realized I needed chains, found a set and put them on. Worked great for about ten minutes, I now own a v plow 5ft not by choice. Be careful about what you run into with all that added traction the tires might not be the first thing to let go. BTDT
