25 kw gen set

I am looking at a 1947 O'Brien Dieselectrec Corp. Generator. This unit has a IH 4cly engin which starts on gas - runs for 5 min. then switches to diesel. The block casting # is 1228u. There are no other number on the engin. The gen is a Delco 60 cy @ 1200 rpm 6 pole. The Mod # is 1-575. There are 68 hr. on the clock. The unit is under roof. Does anyone have one? Could this be Military surplus? Is this electric start then to gas, finally to diesel somthing anyone has worked with THANKS ED

Engine's most likely the IHC UD9 (335 cubic) diesel. There's a possibility however it's the smaller UD6 (248 ci) - though I rather doubt it with 25kw output rating at only 1,200 RPM .

I doubt the genset is military surplus. More likely it's a retired standby generator.

The photo shows a friend's 75(?) kw Delco genset powered by an IHC 6 cylinder UD18 start-on-gas diesel. It had been a standby generator in a hospital.

Thanks Bob M -Thats kind of what it's look like but i'm looking at has a full cover, but the base plate is a look -a-like.

neat old generator... that is one FarmAll that don't appear to be a "rowcrop" model... Interesting post.. sure adds extra flavor to the forum
