Hydraulics IH B275

Dear All,
First of all, my appologies for my English, it is not my usual language.
I am having a problem with the hydraulic lift of my IH B275 of 1960. It will not lift anymore although there is enough fluid in the system. A friend told me to check and clean the filter inside but I have no idea where to find that filter. If you think you can help me I can send you some pictures of the HYMATIC type S15 which is on the tractor.
Thanks in advance !

Hi Alain, which version of hydraulic system does your B275 have? Does it have 3pt levers on the right of seat with depth control or does it have old style with 3pt lever in front of seat and depth control by turning a Knob? I have Operator manual from B414 that has maintenance for both types.

Dear Jim,
The lever is on the right but the depth is indeed by turning a knob. There is a picture available on this site :

I think that behind one of the bolts or connections ther will be an inside filter but I want to avoid loosen something with spring and parts popping out... :)
thanks for your reply !

One more problem, while I was (very slowly) mowing, the engine started to run slower and slower, even at full throttle, and finally stopped running. Fuel is not the problem, the tank is still over half full.

Hi Alain, probably caused by either clogged fuel filters or the fuel line is clogged coming from the fuel tank. Also check crankcase oil for being over full and smelling of diesel fuel as there is a fuel lift pump on right side of engine that the diaphragm can fail and pump fuel into crankcase instead of up to the fuel filters. You may have to bleed the fuel system before it will start again. By the way your B275 has the old style hydraulics.
I will scan and post the hydraulic filter clean procedure.

Thank you very much Jim! . Maybe I should by a pressure meter to see if the pump still deliveres enough pressure. The manual I have speeks of +/- 2100 psi. I really do need that tractor to work for the moment I use it to get rid of the left over gras that my sheep won't eat anymore.... 7 Sheep on 3acres so there is a lot "left over"....
Thanks again, please send your scan to [email protected]

best regards, alain

The filter is right behind the level just as you described. You are on the right track. I had the same problem with my B275. A simple cleaning of the filter solved the problem.

Hi JimB,
i am newer here, and i am pleased to see how the forum is important, and i want to learn from the users experiences, I recently bought an Ih b275 and i have a same problem like Alain had, my hydro lift don't stay up, it's probably my hydro filter behind the hydro control lever, would you please show me how can i fix that, thanks Jim
best regards
Osiris
