Wrong Sleeves in a Rebuild Kit?

I purchased a rebuild kit for a 1951 Super AV. The kit included pistons, sleeves, etc. I now have a suspicion that I have the wrong sleeves. When I insert them into the block, they seem very loose. Because of the taper in the sleeve, they will not fit snug against the rubber washer used to create the wet seal. Should the sleeves fit snug against this O-ring in order to create a wet seal? I was expecting the sleeve to be a snug fit throug both cylinder openings in the block rather than just the top.

I acknowledge that my terminology may not be correct. Any advice would be appreciated.

Measure the diameter of the old sleeves where they enter the seal. Then do the same thing on the new sleeves. Look for a block number on your engine block. Hal

Take the measurements where the sleeve fits the o-ring then call your supplier where you got them. Have your block part number for him to know which block you have. This isnt the first time a mistake was made when ordering new sleeves.
