RE: 12 Volt Wiring Diagram

I am new to restoring a tractor from 6 to 12 volt. What is the easiest and cheapest way to do this? Is there a certain after market generator that will fit on a farmall H?
I am thinking of purchasing a whole new wiring harness. Any suggestions on where I could purchase one of these cheap?

Thanks everyone,

Sully - Presuming the OEM generator and starter are in good shape, the cheapest fix is to install new 1/0 or 2/0 battery cables. That and a fresh 6 volt battery will spin your H just fine. And it will still be "original".

For a wiring harness try Jim at Agri-Services: www.wiringharnesses.com. (I have no connection with Agri-Services. But their stuff is good and prices are reasonable.)

However if you prefer to convert to 12 volts the cheapest way is to mount a Delco 10SI series alternator ($20 or so at a junkyard/$50 for a rebuilt NAPA, etc). Then wire it up per the diagram at the link, making your own harness.
