Can someone help me with these numbers ,The search function has given me some results. I have a late model Super A serial # is just over (by a couple hundred numbers) of the casting # 310 300 change. The heads are the 261172R1 which are the small valve head I understand. The engine cast # is the 354,898 R1 block with a radiator outlet water pump with its own drive belt. I do know the block bore should be 3 7/16 in. to accept 3 sleeve sizes. The Serial # has 4 number's suffixed , which I haven't found at least here on yt, they are number's 1540. I haven't seen anywhere these combinations of cast/serial numbers or how they came to be or how common they are. Is there a high flow head for this 354 898 block that are common.Would this block be fitted with the 113 cid sleeves originally. All help is appreciated.

I'm lazy and cant get through all the pages for cross referencing casts, Is there a high flow head and a 123 cid piston that will maintain compression for a 354 898 short block.

I'm relating some stats which relate to my 51 SA.
No offense to anyone, I am compiling some numbers I've read from some of Hugh's and many other members whom have discussed this topic at great length. For them I am thankful.
(raised) Casting Codes are in Month Day Year , year being letter code, X for 51 etc.
The 354 898 block is 1 7/16 (in.)" block bore, Or outside diameter of cylinder sleeves.
Head gaskets without factory waterpump have larger coolant passages on the head gasket. Only a general rule of thumb , not gospel or fact.
The engine serial number is above the distributor ,behind the throttle shaft ,on a flat , stamped , it will be covered in oil from the valve cover leakage.

Correction; The head cast number is 251172R1 not the previous listed number in the opening post.
A high flow head for the block may well be the 355 and 356 cast numbers.

My chassis serial number and the engine block serial does not have the FAA designate prefixed to the 6 number serial number, Is this common and what does it mean not to have the numbers listed this way.

From the many searches both here and through the web my only guess is that these serial numbers are showing this tractor is a A1 prototype.
