i have ran across a rusted f 20 with a hand and foot cluth electric start and lites this all appears factory. i have not seen any like this before is this rare?

The electric start is not factory it was made by Heisler, Often dealer installed using later IH components but IH never made electric start for the 20. It is a very desirable setup worth more than the tractor for sure. Hand clutches are also a desirable odd conversation piece.

did the bell housing have a place for the starter? or is that a later addition as well? cause that is why i thought it was factory cause the bell housing had a place for the starter to mount

The bell housing is part of the kit from Heisler. The kit was a bell housing, a ring gear and starter. The flywheel was machined to accept the ring gear and all the other parts were to be obtained locally.
