Farmall H Belt Pully

Why am I having trouble removing the belt pulley from my H?? I removed the removable bolts and loosened the two bolts on the top but still cant get it to budge.

It depends what part of it your trying to get off. if it's the whole thing make sure that the ro that shifts it in gear is out of the way and that you have the metal dowl pins out(the threaded top pins on the corner). If its just the pulley off the side there's thre bolts two on top and one underneath. just give it a good whack with a rubber mallet and jiggl it a little it ahs a bearing o the insde that has to work loose

Also if it's the whole thing you theres two long bolts on top but also like 6 around the perimeter along with the threaded top dowl pins. to get the pins out just grab em with the vice grips and wiggle em out

No need to remove the dowel pins. They only extend down about an inch and cause no problems if you leave them in place.

Take a large hammer & hit upward on the bottom of the casting on the right side; the gasket is holding it together.

I had my belt pulley off my H and had a hard time getting it resealed. I would certainly use a new gasket and probably gasket sealer on both sides as I ended up having to do. Don't know why it was hard to get sealed and elminate the seep leaking but that might have been the reason yours was hard to remove as well as it was probably sealed top and bottom also. I din't think about it until later but I might have been dealing with a surface that wasn't machined flat enough but never checked it though, Hal.

I have looked for a seal online and havent found one. Any idea where I can find one or should I make one?

Devin, I believe you are talking about the retanglar one on top of the rear frame top cover at the front and the belt pulley gear box. If so, I found mine at the local CaseIH dealership. The part no. is 49619DA and should be readily available at any CaseIH dealership that handles parts for the letter series Farmall tractors. Hope this helps, Hal.
