[i:8b8e95475e]my friend has a 464 with no brakes. the equalizer and both master cylinders have been rebuilt. still no brake pedal. how common would it be for the problem to be internal or could it be a bleeding problem? he doesn't really want to pull the finals. Any thoughts[/i:8b8e95475e]

Bleeding is almost always the problems with those brake systems. They are hydraulically applied brakes but there is no power assist. The fluid line going to the reservoir only serve to keep the brake reservoir full. A common problem with this system is lines that have corroded through allowing air to enter.

One way I've checked the brakes out on these tractors is to block off the line coming into the brakes at the final drive. Then pump up brakes and check for leaks. If this holds hook up a brake hand pump (the kind they use for bleeding brakes on cars)to brakes at final drive and see if it leaks down, if it does then the final dive have to come off and the O-rings need to be replaced.
