Hi James, that looks a pretty neat tractor.
Could I ask you for some details please. What is the diameter of the head light? and could you post a picture of the mounting bracket? I am in the process of installing a light on my F-14, and think I will use a '20s drum car headlight as a near approximation to the IH version.

Kind regards

Adrain,The guide lite is orginial for the F14,I will measure it for you.As for a picture I dont have a camera, but my coworker does,Ill try.I have a friend that reproduces these brackets,His name is James Bogley in Smithsburg MD,I cant find his #,you might be able to look him up in the phone book or on the internet

Thanks James,
The drum light I have is about 10", but will make a good approximation for the time being. I have not seen any lights fitted to any F-12 or F14s in New Zealand and they don't seem to have been imported here.

I am planning a battery-less version and looking for information on the 'battery-less' generator set up if anyone has anything they can share, will be much appreciated (was load dumped to earth when the lights are not on?).
Thanks again for the information,

Kind regards
Adrian Whiteman

I live in the South Western part of the state. Aprox. 50 miles from Huntington.

Here's a friends F14 during a parade. He is the one who got me interested in IH's a few years ago. You can see part of the hood on my TE20 behind him.

I have a 1949 Ferguson TE20 that my dad bought back in the early 70's. We used it in the farm until his health got so bad that he could no longer use it. [b:e04ffe47c7]Got it out, restored it and then gave it away[/b:e04ffe47c7].

The new owner loves palying and riding on it.

And most important of all. It stayed in the family.

My friend, that red tractor in the first pic is an F20, I will post a diagram of the original setup for you soon.

I also say F20.

Seat mount and the front wheel assembly does not match the F14.

But he swears that it is a 14 and he used F14 markings when he painted it.

Hate to burst his bubble but IH never used drop box final drives on the 12/14 or full length frame rails. The frame bolts to the front of the transmission and they all have drive axles sticking directly out of the transmission case. The H and the M would carry the design started by the 12/14. The 12/14 steering brakes are rods inside the frame rails not cables running down the outside. There is no doubt that is an F20

(and roundspoke wheels should always be completely red)
