11.2 x 36 tractor tires

I have a farmall 200 and C. Is it possible to put 38" wheels on so i can buy cheaper tires? I'm not sure about axle size.
Thanks

Sure you can do it I did that on a 340 that had 36 inch tires. Took the centers from an H we had and made them fit. Did have to do some work so they would work but got it done. If I remember right I had to grind off one of the square key areas on the H center to make it work because the 340 only had a single key way in the axle and the H has 2

Lloyd,Bite the bullet and shop around,Please dont butcher a perfectly good tractor,36in tires were put on for a reason

36's should be cheaper than 38's, at least if they are good tires. Firestone still makes 11.2-36's, saw them in a brochure at my dealer yesterday. 4 plys are good enough, unless you like to run over thorns all the time. 38's will completely mess up your ground speeds, and reduce pulling power. It will also be nose down. And you are going to have trouble finding wheels to fit, C axles are smaller than H axles. You will be messing up your tractor. It is simply not a good idea.

I think you can do it by just changing the rims and tires, not the center hubs. The wheel hub and bolt circles are the same diameter on the C, H and M. This is because the M and H use a deep center rim and clamps whereas the C is flat center with lugs. I don't know if it the rim clamps will work with the C hub, but I bet they will. I'm surprised the 38 inch tires are cheaper though.

"IF" you're going to do it the easiest way is to weld some bolt tabs onto drop center 38" rims. Use 1/2" plate steel. If your not happy with it you haven't ruined anything on the C and can go back to 36" tires. Saw a tractor set up that way and the owner expressed the opinion that it didn't hurt performance. He was running 12.4x38's.
