Farmall A - What do I need?

Think this is a 1939 "A" ?
Serial number is on a plate just below the brakes & clutch on the front of the foot platform.
It says Model A - serial # FAA 4618

I would like to put a belly mower on it but all it has for pto is straight square shaft of of splined pto shaft.It is used for my sickle mower. Can a pulley for belly mower belt be put on this tractor? I can get a picture of the rear of tractor if needed.

It depends on what kind of belly mower you are putting on your tractor. Some have a pulley that attach to the PTO shaft and some you have to remove the belt pulley and put the mower drive pulley in it's place.
 
The perfect belly mower for that tractor has an engine mounted on it (18HP or so). this allows it to have speed control, and cutting without being pushed around by the mowers inertia.
A pulley system to use the PTO is available, but might cost as much to install and connect, as an separate engine. Jim
 
Speed control is a good idea. 18hp? Depends on how it is rated, engine or PTO HP. I have a JD 525, riding mower, 48", 18 engine HP, very manueverable, prefer it by far to the belly mount Super A 60" Woods for lawn grass and other small grass and weeds. But, my Super A's 19 PTO HP gives far more power than the lawn mowers engine for taller weeds and grass. My belly mower does not get pushed around, nor does the 525. Your idea is fine for an addition to an existing riding mower though, you can double the cut.
 
You need the belt pulley to power the mower. The pto shaft just wont work. Fender and tire are in the way then you would not be able to run the belt to the mower spindles unless you got one for a Cub then you mite be able to make it work. but you will need a large pulley to run the mower.
