What years was the IH 5100 grain drill produced?

The CaseIH diagrams had only one date on them, and that was the date of the description in the diagram, not production date of the drill. It was 1988. Jim
Can't tell you exactly but I remember my father priced one back in 1977 so they do go back into the 1970's. Fair amount around with CaseIH insignia. I want to say the 5300's started in 1991 or 1992.
Lot's of good books out there on IH products but I would like to see one heavily devoted to IH products from 1960 to 1985. Seems like lots of tools from that time period don't get much mention. Wait too long and a lot of the people that were familiar with these products will not be around as a source. May not suit some but that is the period of a lot of the things we or our neighbors used while I grew up.

I read the online preview of an IH book and it said production of the 5300 began in 1990. So I guess they were through the 80's. We just bought one in good shape for $1800 and was just wondering how old it is.
