super w6 back wheel adjustment

Well I rounded up a good super w6 to install my front end loader from the w400 with the cracked block. While eyeing up the loader change over I noticed the the width between the back wheels on the w400 was more by around 12 inches. It looked like the axles had been drawn out of the housing by around six inches per side. This provided room for the loaders rams.

Is it possible to make the same adjustment to the super six? Is there any hardware to change or is it just an adjustment.

thanks
George

This doesn't help you much I'm afraid but I wasn't aware that there was any provision on the standard tread tractors to adjust the wheel spacing. Sam

The only adjustment I am aware of on them is to make them narrower. If you take the hubs off and turn them around you change the width about 3 inches on each side. That is how the Orchards got a narrow width. The hub will have a shoulder that is flush with the face of the hub on one side and on the other has a hub that extends out about three inchs or so.

There is no adjustment. That is why they are called "Standard Tread" models.

Whatever was done to the W400 is custom. You will need to transfer the axles from the W400 to the SW6 if it is absolutely necessary to have them that wide.

You didn't say what the rim sizes and type are. Are they the same on both tractors? Or does the 400 have rims with bolt loops? Or double bevel rims used with the same cast wheel but different mounting hardware on some W450 tractors?

not sure what style of loader you have but the mounts may need modifying anyways. remember a w400 is about 5 or 6 inches longer than a sw6 because of the ta in the middle. your best bet is gonna be putting the 6 engine in the 400 chassis.

The w4, w6 and w9 did not come from factory with any wheel adjustment. Thats why they were called "standard" models. Now someone may have made some after market spacers to put on each side but I doubt it.
