fast hitch gurus:340 cable tele-depth or update

I've got 4 340's but only one has the cable for tele depth sensing. the other three have what I guess was the "update" of mechanical linkage to hitch. Help me understand why the cable system was retro fitted in the field when these tractors were current. the reason I ask is, I am swapping power steering onto the cable operated one and am going to sell the other one but should I also swap the machanical linkages for the hitch? I know the cable tractor could use some adjustment to keep from "dead heading".

Hello redtom, I don't have your answer, I have a question. I have a 1958 340 and my teledepth linkage and/or cable is missing! The hitch still function's fine it just doesn't stop at the preset depth. Where can I get info. on putting it back together, I don't really know exactly what's missing. The tractor is in good shape and I want it complete. Thanks.

redtom the cable would rust and hang up then cause the tele depth to hi pressue. so the up date.
