i replaced rad and temp sen on my 240, no leaks but after adding coolant and water and running it awhile to test the temp guage, i got overflow at the rad cap, not overheated but an overflow with some press? any thoughts guys
also my solenoid fried when i restarted the trac with the cap off, my push button starter switch was sticking , could this have shorted out the sol. it smoked and i got sparks where the wire (switch) attached to batt. thanks Steve

Did you overfill the radiator?
If I filled my 140 completely it would push coolant out the overflow twice... once just before the thermostat opened, the second time on a warm day with the engine at operating temp.

These tractors don't have overflow bottles, and water expands as it heats.

I would say let it seek its own level. If it doesn't run hot and the fluid doesn't keep going down, there is nothing wrong.

As far as the starter, you'll give yourself a complex trying to figure out what happened. Fix it and get on with life. If the button's sticking, fix that too.

On our 450, the radiator shop guy told Dad to fill the radiator just 2 inches above the cores to allow for expansion. Has worked for all our tractors.
