just got a 1973 1066 and the 3 point wont pick up a large bale unless it is at wide open throttle. what may be the problem and will it need to be split to replace the pump?it wa suposed to have a news ta and clutch and a new pump, everything else works ok.

I'd hook up a real heavy load to one the remotes and see if it is lame too, as they share the same pump.

Naw, no split needed for either of the hydraulic pumps. The hitch/remote pump is back on the left side of the tractor right above that drawbar tug boss.

thaNK U . I TALKED TO THE GUY I GOT IT FROM AND HE SAID HE WILL STAND BEHIND THE REPAIR HIMSELF ,HOPEFULLY, IT WONT TAKE TOO MUCH.

Could be leakage in the rest of the system and it works when the output of the pump is sufficient to overcome that leakage by revving it up. Most likely in the relief valve, wherever that is located. It looks like it might be a Cessna pump and I don't recall if the relief is built into the pump on that model, but I don't see it on the outside. If it's a Cessna relief, it will have about a 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" hex with the pressure stamped in the top.
