300 TA Adjustment

I took a 300 in on trade and it was stuck in reverse. We finally got it out of reverse and are able, with much force to get it into a couple other gears. This is all with it not running. I was reading down below about the 300 utility and it got me to thinking. The TA lever on this tractor down by the clutch housing really doesn't move much when you move the TA lever.

So I have a couple questions. First: with the TA that far out of adjustment, will it cause very hard shifting problems even with it not running? Second: How do I properly adjust the TA, even if it is out in one side, just so the linkage is adjusted properly.

Thanks!

TA adjustment won't bother you while not running as far as shifting into or out of gear. Worn out or messed up shift lever and rails could or bearing out of transmisson top shaft. TA adjustment amounts to , free play on direct drive clutch of about 1/8th to 3/16th inch movement of TA release shaft and then adjust link between clutch and TA so it moves immediately when pushing clutch pedal and releases ta same amount as pulling ta lever. What you are trying to acomplish is full release of the 7 inch dry direct drive clutch so planet gears can revolve freely and allow rollback of transmission gears to relieve tension of load.
