H Hydraulics quick action in operation

I have my 48 H hooked to a IHC simi mounted mower with IH single cylinder lift. Whenever I lift it up it nearly jerks the bar into a bow. My dad had a 41 M that he used with a JD cylinder on a #5 JD Simi mount mower. I dont remember it jerking so bad. Any ideas how I can slow this action down?

Larger cylinder or a flow restircter (sp) either one or both. You can even make a restricker by using pipe fittings and what you do is reduce the line down to say a 1/4 inch then back up to the 1/2 inch I'll guess you are using

You might try using a larger cylinder if you have one, otherwise, install a flow restrictor in the line. It restricts the flow for raising, but gives full flow for lowering. The restrictor can also be reversed to give full flow for raising, and restricted for lowering. Those restrictors used to be a common item, might have trouble finding one now.

You can get flow restricting fittings at tractor supply.

They can be identified by the fitting being almost completely blocked except for a small pinhole.

The pinhole can be drilled out to increase flow.

1/2" to 1/4" won't make an appreciable difference in the speed. It's amazing how much oil they can squeeze through that pinhole.
