Schooling on Hydraulics

I got my Saginaw three point hitch the other day and installed it on my farmall H.Pretty easy,no draw bar.I would like to hook up two way Hydraulic system that seems to be pretty easy also.Question is about spool valves.I believe i need an open center, what is a float spool valve?I would like to purchase 2 spool valves in one unit by Prince so i can run a three point hitch and the other spool valve that could be used for another operation in the future on something else, just an option.I havent had much luck from companies that sell the spool valves as what valve to use.Salesman just take over the phone orders.

Without float and with the lock pins installed in the hitch it will stay at whatever height you move it to. With float you can move the valve to a position past down and the hitch will float up and down. Like if using a scraper blade it would move up and down by its weight and ground conditions. If you pull the pins in that type hitch you can have float without a float position valve.
I have used the prince open center valves with float and its pretty handy. Use the one with load checks to keep the hitch from leaking off unless its leaking in the lift cylinder or hoses after valve.

(quoted from post at 21:42:32 10/25/10) I did the same thing you are talking about.
I used this Prince valve from Northern. Check Surplus Center too. I haven't bought anything from them, but they have the best prices I've seen.

Good luck!

Prince 2 spool with float

I've bought several items from SurplusCenter. No problems ever. I run a 3 spool with a float. 2 for loader, 1 for hitch.

Just a reminder, that Saginaw also has pins that you pull to accomplish float. Even better actually, it will hold a minimum height like a cable lift dozer instead of just dropping a blade into every hole that comes along.

Hello,i did like the 2 spool monobody.which lever is the float?? i would like to use the float as an option, maybe for a front mounted snowblower in the future that i plan on building. The spool for the saginaw hitch(NON FLOAT) ,I would like the lever for the 3 point hitch next to my right side, the float spool than would be on the outside of the monobody. Is that possible?? thanks john

With the levers towards the back, the float spool is the one on the left, so if you mounted the valve on your right, the float spool will be closest to you.
