Well took the head of my w400 and the number two cylinder has a huge crack. I am sure it goes into the block. Could be how the antifreeze was getting in everything. Well the bottom line is this tractor has a good fel and I would like to get it into action. I know the 400 have live pto for the loader pump and power steering on the tractor. There is a 1950 w6 available and I was wondering if the could have a live pto in this year. I would appreciate any information on this.

The W-6 WILL NOT have independent/live PTO. The W-6 MIGHT have live hydraulics, but, the IPTO was not available untill the Super W-6.

Unless the pump is PTO driven (on the rear), you need live HYDRAULICS.

You can take the pump off the W400 and install it on the W6.

If you're ambitious, you could transfer the engine from the W6 into the W400.

Yes the fel has a pto pump. The live hydraulics are on the power steering. I believe they could both be fed of the distributor pump but I have heard that you cannot just install the pump without installing the stronger timing gears.

I have just looked at a sw6 that might be available for a reasonable price. As the sheet metal is in great shape I would just put the loader on it. It has the live hydraulics and I suspect live PTO. I would likely transfer the power steering over to that tractor as that makes using the tractor so easy.
I also will have spare tires and many other spares as the sw6 is basically the same as the w400. Just a little less power.

With the one huge difference that unless it's a Super W-6 TA then it will not have live PTO (or obviously the TA). Just to keep in mind. Sam
 
Well the 400 did have a ta and live pto. I may have to hook both fel and power steering to the live hydraulics. I do not want the ta as it is just one more thing that goes wrong. It will be work tractor and will not be show or pulling tractor as I have 20 or so old tractors for that.
