Farmall F-20 Piston Ring Change

Hello, I have read somewhere awhile back that the engines were designed to be able to change piston rings "in the field"? Has anyone heard of this? if so, How was it done?

Through the hand-hole covers on the side. The sleeve is chamfered at the bottom to compress the rings as you shove the piston back in the hole.

Just be sure you don't push the piston up too far when putting it back in. the top ring will expand in the head and then you got a problem.
