High H price

I was at an auction today with one tractor, a war era H. It had been parked in a barn for 30-40 years, the grill was damaged, the tank was filthy inside, the manifold was rusted right off, the paint was rusted in spots. It did have rear tires that looked to never have been driven on and didn't have weather cracks, and it had fenders and a rough belt pulley. It sold for $1100 plus $110 BP plus about $100 sales tax. I would not have thought that it was worth more than half of that, but it must have been to the fellows that bid it up.

Perhaps a family member?? Were there any extra add-ons. That does seem a little high, but tractors seem to be selling well here as well.

The difference between $550 and $1100 is not that much -- probably two bidders and each wanted it. If it hit $2000 that is a different story. What its worth to most people and what it brings at auction are two different items, but it was worth $1100 to the guy that bought it.

FWIW from your description it sounds like the rear tires are "like new". And a new set of tires for an H will run $800 - $900+.

So $1,100 + tax for that H does not seem unreasonable.

Exactly. A GOOD pair of rear tires will make ANY tractor worth a minimum of $1,000

$1000.00 worth of tires and rims. $250.00 for the fenders if they were decent. He has the rest of the tractor for nothing.

Even if tire had never been used after setting in shed 30/40 years I would not value them too highly.

Just remember two wanted it and if its close to home great price you never know what one will bring at an auction. Seen one C sell had a hard time getting 1000 later seen one sell for 2750 figure that out if you want to put a valu one one.

My grandpa went to an auction that had an H that went for $1000. He said it ran like a sewing machine, and had a new coat of paint. with tires that were ok.
