Today a year ago we lost our friend Hugh. We still miss him on this Farmall forum.
With due respect, Hendrik.

Think of him almost every time I check the forum. I remember when he came on here and how I thought he would be such a great addition. He is missed.

It is difficult to believe it has been a year.
I miss Hugh's many years of farming experience with IH equipment that he shared with us.
Hope all is well with his family.

I think of Hugh often, every time off set tractor post come up, Hugh and I had a few differences of opinion but were always on friendly terms. Seems impossible he has been gone a year.

Had the honour of meeting him in person once. He was at my place, responding to ad that I posted online. He's was the exact same off the yt board. A good man.

Agreed..seems like just last week I read about his death. Hope is friends and family are hanging in there.

I was a relative newbie when he passed, but I had used large amounts of his knowledge in the archives on my own tractor, and felt like I knew him. He was a good one. Major loss.

yep sure miss that guy as i have mostly "his sized farmalls" i remember about the first time i asked a question to him his response made me think :you ole crusty so-in so: but i soon learned that that ole crusty so-in so knew what he was talkin bout

we miss ya HUGH McKAY!!!!

I stoped at his house in Canada acouple yrs ago and had a great time well worth my time spent. Lady at custome couldnt quite figure why me from Iowa would be going to just see a friend in Canada to talk about tractors ect.He was coming thru here until his health got bad and was going to stop here i like the rest sure do miss him.

I wonder if they could "bind" all of his posts into a down-loadable file, before they "accidentally" get lost in a server crash or Al=Queda attack or something similar.

That way, as many of us that value his knowledge would have his posts in our own computers. I KNOW I'll crash mine sooner or later, and you guys could back me up.

His Offset knowledge was above anyone else here.

To Hugh, I hope you met Big Papa, and you both got a good laugh out of me pulling up posts with the 100 today !!!

I'm glad you beat me to posting about Hugh MacKay's passing. I had thought about it for over a week and just didn't know how to do it w/o getting teary-eyed; and over someone I hadn't even met, go figure. I had bookmarked his passing but the link was not valid anymore. I'm glad the archives are available. His wisdom and sometimes bluntness were posts I enjoyed reading even if I didn't have experience with the off-sets and 560 and even a green one. Hugh sure had experience operating many other motorized equipment also. Those who had the opportunity to meet Hugh should consider yourselves fortunate, I do for the opportunity to read his posts. My hope is that Hugh's family has been grieving his passing for that is the way to heal the loss. I remember him posting that '...there is no finer place for coffee and a place to sit and chat than his porch; his better half Marq; his mind is willing, but his old bones aren't always; the better halfs rows of flowers, his father; the fluids better always be checked before heading back to the field.........'

Thanks for reminding us of this unfortunate anniversity. I had a lot of off-forum email exchanges with Hugh and have kept a large file of our emails. I read them on occassion and a couple of days ago was into that file until the wife said it was time to get off the PC and come to bed. I certainly enjoyed my association with Hugh through this site but never had the opportunity to meet him in person although he talked about coming down to Missouri a few times. Haven't heard anything of the family in the past year and trust Marq is doing ok. In one of my later exchanges Hugh indicated they were looking at buying a place back in Nova Scotia as a summer home but he just couldn't do the winters there anymore. A very knowledgeable person who added a lot to the Farmall/IHC forum and we do miss him, Hal.
