240U Firecrater Pistons

I just received the Mahle pistons I ordered to replace the Firecrater pistons (374339R1) on my 240U's C-123 engine. My concern is that the raised dome on the new pistons looks higher than the original, which were more like smooth "bumps".

Has anyone encountered a different Firecrater design, and know if I'll have a clearance problem in the head, or if too much compression coud cause a problem?

I recall Stan(VA) once had a similar problem, but couldn't find the outcome in the archives.

Think about it if they would not work why would they sell them. If you are in doubt place a piece of modelong clay on top of the piston then place the head on and the clay will show how much clearence you have.

Just be sure you install the piston with that raise part sitting under the valves not to the side of the head that has the flat spot LOL I just made that mistake the other day because I was not seeing what I should have seen

You will not have too much compression. (assumes stock head without being milled for tractor pulling) As the others say, put them in correctly and it will be fine with good power. Today's gasoline is much better than the fuel they were born to use. Jim
