Power Steering on a Super MTA

I have a 1954 Super MTA with a narrow front end. I want to put power steering on and I found a unit called Char Lyn. Can someone tell me how this is installed on my tractor and maybe display a schematic of it? Thanks, Rich

It's a 9.7 cubic inch steering valve (torque generator)

i have the char-lynn power steering manuals scanned in my computer at the shop. shoot me an e mail and i can send them to you on monday.

There's more to it than just the motor, so keep that in mind before you go cutting the steering shaft.

The torque generator installs in the horizontal steering shaft, under the hood, above the engine. You need to cut a section out of the shaft for the torque generator to fit.

You may need a special bracket to replace the existing bracket that holds the middle bearing and the gauges... That's where the torque motor mounts.

Glennster, I don't see your email address. Mine is on my profile I think. Please send me the email of the scan. Thanks, Rich

You can get on the internet and look up Bates tractor parts. They will have everything u need. You will need a different gauge bracket so the motor will bolt up. You will need a priority valve. You can hook it up to the hyd lines so you wont need the pump that goes up front on the M. It just installed it last year it works great. If it's not new you should take it to a hyd shop and let them put new seals in it so it doesn't start leaking. O.E.M. also has it but i'v gotten some parts from them before that hasn't been correct.

I found more than one under Bates tractors. There was one in MI, AL and IN that I noticed. Where is the one located that has the parts for adding power steering? Thanks, Rich
