656 PTO problem

Morning guys,
My 656 Hydro pto did something it shouldn't have the other day and I need some advice. I have an F-11 loader on it and when I pulled the lift lever to pick up a big bale nothing happened. I looked around and saw that the pto would stop spinning when I hit the lift lever. After pulling the lever a few more times I managed to get the bale lifted but the pto shaft seemed to spin too slow and the loader pump wasn't responding normally. It appears that something is slipping in the pto. Is there a clutch that can be adjusted or is it going to take major repairs at the shop? Winter will be here this weekend according to the weathermen so I need to get after this quick.

Two ways to go at this,

The PTO for sure needs to be rebuilt because the clutches are cooked, but if you are in a big hurry, you could just hook the loader to the tractor's own hydraulics and eliminate that pump/tank altogether.

Here's a fast fix:

What I mean is, you cold take the feed hose at the F-11's control valve (original small pressure hose from the PTO pump) and feed it from the LOWER port on one of the tractor's remotes. Then take the return line (at the other side of the F-11's control valve---this hose now dumps into the lower part of the F-11 tank) and route it to the UPPER port on the tractor's remote.

This would take the Farmhand pump and tank completely out of the picture.

Tie that remote handle BACK and your in business again using the tractor's hydraulics instead of the PTO.

Doubt it,

He's not talking about the tractor's "lift lever", but rather the lift lever on the F-11's control bank, which uses oil that is provided by a seperate supply tank.

If the tractor itself was that low on oil, the bypass filter would be screamin' at him and he's notice the lack of power steering first.
