Farmall M cylinder sleeve crack

I just brought home a farmall M with a stuck engine. Apparently water got into the exhaust and cracked one of the cylinders. The sleeve and cylinder bore are both cracked badly. Here is my question.

Can I fix the broken cylinder in this tractor if the sleeve and cylinder bore are both cracked? The cylinder is cast, so I"m stumped. Any ideas?

its just scrap metal now. with all the m's around should be no problem to get another block.

The only way to fix that is to have a machine shop bore the cracked cylinder, press in a repair sleeve which will then seal the crack, and then bore the repair sleeve to fit the replaceable sleeves. This fix is expensive so you may be better off buying a replacement engine block.

If it was mine, I would put a heavy repair sleeve in the block & bore it to size of the rest of the pistons & run it that way. Depending on how much you use it , it may outlast us both.

a small crack is ok to fix,... but he said cracked badly so its not worth fooling around with. went through the same thing on a w6 . sleeve and block was split wide open.
