super a steering

You don't! You can change the grease in the box but you can't take the play out without replacing the box. Very common on offset Farmall"s.

There are MANY posts on this subject in the archives.
Main culprits for free play are:
a) loose steering arm on vertical shaft
b) worn key and keyway where the steering arm attaches to the vertical shaft
c) worn key and keyway where steering sector (inside housing) attaches to vertical shaft
d) worn or loose ball bearing at the end of the slanted steering shaft.

If you replace the parts Hendrik said you wont have any play to be alarmed about. I have rebuilt several and just finished another on steering wheel will move maybe 3in which isnt veery important you will just need to work thru and check where the play is coming from one place at a time a little here and a little thre soon can add up to a bunch. Get new seals also.

Before you get in there, if you have not done so, make sure EVERYTHING outside the box, from lug bolts to steering wheel nut, is good and tight, including the steering arms and the nut on the bottom of the vertical shaft coming out of the box. An imperceptible amount of play in these areas can add up to a perfect mimic of a sloppy box. Do the easy stuff first and you may not have to go in there at all.

Apologies if you've done this already...
