best parts manual for SMTAD injector pump

Went to move the SMTAD out of storage after it's sat for 1 1/2 years. It started right up on gas, but would not switch over to diesel. I bleed the water trap, and both filters, but am not getting any fuel out of the bleeders at the injectors. No white smoke when I advance the throttle when running on gas. She ran good when I last drove it. I also checked the oil level in the pump, and it looks like there is some diesel getting the oil. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and take it off and take it apart or get it rebuilt. Sooooo, I'm looking for manuals on ebay and there are three different parts books that look like they might be helpful. At the top on each there is a PU number. They are PU-40, PU-27 and PU-27A. Does anyone know which is the correct one for the SMTAD injector pump? Also is there a blue ribbon manual on repairing this pump? can't find one on ebay at this time. Thanks for the help!

PU 27 and 27A are pump parts books. PU 40 is a newer parts book that replaced the others.
ISS 1003V is a IH pump service manual.

1003 was updated until at least 1965 too.

The Blue Ribbon equivalent is "Serviceman's Field Reference - International Diesel Engine and Fuel Injection System"

If you can't find it in paper, it is at RedPowerMagazine. Search the construction forum for the phrase.

Thanks Guys, this is good info! Anyone try driving a MD on gas alone for any distance? Could that damage anything?

Yes. IH said while servicing to never run more than 10 minutes on gas before letting cool down again. Starting valves tend to warp, especially if ran hot on gas, and more especially if not switched to diesel to cool them on the seats. Later books shortened the run time further, alluding to the problems they were having at the time.

Without a throttle, it isn't going very far on gas anyways.

M Diesel, I went to RedPower and found your copy of The Serviceman's field reference. Thank you very much, that should be very helpful!!!
