No, unless you run the starter really hard. My H is a 12V conversion and I assume the starter was never changed. I only crank for 5 seconds at most. It seems like it usually starts when I let go of the starter button.

The starter will handle 12 Volts fine as long as the tractor starts relatively easily.

If you crank and crank and crank and crank and crank to get the tractor started, the starter will not hold up for long on 12V.

Fix the reason why the tractor starts hard, and 12V will work fine.
