Without looking at any reference material I believe the F means Farmall, the C is a Model C tractor, and the M is the engine serial number. Hope this is what you are looking for as the M s/n would only appear on the engine and not the chassis which would be number starting with FC and either 501-99999 for a straight C and 100000 through something short of 200000 for a Super C model tractor, Hal.
