Late yesterday I had my new Farmall 460 running and it has been sputtering bad. I was puttsing around to use up a little gas the first owner said was over a year old. Tractor quit - good. Adding what little I had from a can, the tractor ran a little better. The evening before, I had cleaning/gapping the plugs and it ran a little better. After removing the rotor cap I see it has two chunks out of it, leaving an incomplete seal; and will need to be replaced. Then I pulled the rotor and set it up on the hood; wiped the grease off distributor top and inside badly chipped cap. When I went to start the tractor it wouldn't. Guess what I forgot to do?

Some of us are so focused on the job at hand, we find it hard to multi-task. Just wondering, were you chewing gum at the same time?

Very common problem, probably world wide. Worse yet when it falls to the floor and hides from you. BTDT
