It was revealed today that Farmalls were forged from gold, not steel! Don't miss out, and cash in today!

I suppose you pay extra for the wrong cap, broke valve, and hole in the bottom.

Maybe the seller never seen one before? Someone may
let him know that common parts are not selling all
that hot this year. Otherwise I have some tanks I'd
like to sell.

That seller always has starting prices jacked up way beyond reason. And the parts have not been cleaned at all.

Always some that think their parts are better that others. Then some dont know what they have and buy some piece of junk and pay way over a fair prive. They will go to a junk yd and get a rusty thing thinking they have a bargain.

Don"t know about H"s, some time ago on e-bay I chased a starting gasoline tank for a Regular. I quit at about where this one is and I think the winning bid was just south of $200. Still looking for a repairable one but my need for it is a long way off. That will be close to the last thing I worry about.

OH YEAH!! That seller is ALWAYS out of line on their prices. I've seen farmall scratchers go for $200 a set, and a Cub Sickle Bar PTO Pulley go for $120.

Everything is overpriced, and I am sure there are idiots out there paying it too! It just kills me when I have the same parts, and will be happy to sell them for 1/2 the price.

That tank doesn't even have the correct cap. The entire listing is a prime example of why I rarely go shopping on ebay anymore. That and the extremely exaggerated shipping prices that so many ebay sellers seem to think they are entitled to, and that we are stupid enough to fall for.

Then why don't I see any reasonably priced parts for sale?

You could put your 1/2 price parts on ebay and really clean up?

As bad as I hate to admit it, it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and demand. A few years ago I had 4 old Corvette wheel covers that had been sitting in a shed for many years that I wanted to sell. In central MO I knew there was no way to sell and get anywhere near what they were worth, but knew that somewhere out there I could find someone needing them for a restoration. I would have been lucky to get $50 for the set locally, if I could find a buyer at all. I listed them individually one at a time (started them around $10 each if I recall with no reserve). I ended up getting on average about $50 each out of them. I guess that was what they were worth on that day. The buyers were happy, and I was happy. On the other side of the coin, I have bought many items I could never find locally, but the old sayings "let the buyer beware" and "a fool and his money are soon parted" applies. Don't get me wrong, there are many crooks on ebay, but it does do one thing, and that is open a market that would normally not exist such as was the case in my parts.

Guess my time is coming, I have had good luck buying on E Bay so far though. Shipping charges do not matter to me as I factor that into my bid and if item and seller do not suit me I just do not bid.

I do the same thing, but when someone wants $16.82 to ship an item that could easily ship for $8 or $9, I just won't even bid.

I'm the same way. Currently there is an 8 dollar muffler rain cap I'm interested in, but the guy wants $16 in shipping! I could ship that part for $3! Ridiculous.

Ebay is ok if you find the right deal with the right person. But some things get swept up by silliness. I put my old Belt Pulley up. I started it at $9.99, and hoped to get $30. I took several pictures and told folks that it had material nailed into it, so it had holes and a few nail pieces still sticking out of it. But it had nice paint.

Well, it passed $30. And some guys got swept up in a bidding war. Not including the shipping (which was right on the mark for it's weight), I got $165 for it!!!

Silly.

A few years back I took an old tool box off an old junk baler I had. From the paint that was left I knew it was off an old Ferguson. I took a photo of it, and posted on either the Ford or Ferguson board, and knew fairly quickly what it was off of. I cleaned it up and primed it, and listed it, and it brought nearly $50 not including shipping. Again, I would have never paid $50 for one like it, but someone who was restoring a Fergy and was missing one and felt they could not live without it apparently will. And a lot depends on time of day. I have had fair luck finding items listed in the middle of the night, and often they will go cheaper during the middle of the day or late at night than if they sell during hours like 8 PM.
