What's the best way to "unglue" the radiator from the lower casting? The previous owner used a red Forma', instead of a gasket, to create the seal where the radiator meets the casting. That scrawny little radiator wouldn't take much to twist up trying to get off. Is there something that will release the adhesive? Gas, kerosene, dynamite? If it's like the stuff they had at the local CaseIH dealer, it's hi-temp & a pain to get off.

Thanks,
Mike

I usually try to slip the blade of a razor scraper in between the radiator and the cast and carefully work my way around so i dont ding the surfaces up.

That's the approach I've used. Crack it loose with a fine blade to where you can get it off, then clean up the surfaces. Be interested in hearing what people suggest for solvents to make that step easier.

I would probaly try and spray a little bit of either brake clean of engine degreaser on the surfaces to soften the formagasket then scrape it clean with a razor scraper. if any of the cast is rusty it probaly wouldn't hurt to use some fine emery paper to clean it up a little bit.
