Farmall 140

I just brought home a '74 Farmall 140. I think I am really going to like it. Came with a snow blade. What sweet little tractor. Does anyone know what year they started to put generators in? I have the 6 volt system. What do I have to do to change to 12 volt. I wanted to get a solar trickle charger to keep the battery up. Does anyone know of a 6 volt trickle charger that would work? How about the snow blade. Is the grader blade a totally different setup or can they be innerchanged somehow? Any advice or pictures would be great!

I hate to tell you this but you dont have a 1974 140 if it is a 6 volt system. They were all standard 12 volt starting in about 1964. If yours is a 1974 then it will be a key start with a 12 volt system. Check the serial no.

Thanks for the correction. The serial number does corrospont to a 1974, and yes it has a key. I guess that makes the solar trickle charger idea that much easier.
