pulling injectors

Don't know what I am dealing with here, but in pulling injectors the first two came out like they should. The next two popped a brass sleeve that allowed coolant into the piston. At first I thought I had cracked the head but then figured that these sleeves should be able to be replaced. Do I get new ones and how do I get the old ones off the injector. Never seen this before.

You need to put in new brass sleeves and will have to borrow or fashion a driver to install them. I usually take a cut off tool on a die grinder and split the old brass sleeve to rescue the injection nozzle. Far as getting the coolant out of the cyl, well that is the biggest problem I would say. Air nozzle in cyl, then dry it up with some thing like brake cleaner and then oil it down really good. I guess I have always been fortunate enough to remember to drain coolant before pulling the nozzles.

It is a 1460 Combine with the big (don't know the cu in) diesel engine. After talking with my local IH dealer, I decided to have a machine shop make a tool to install the sleeves and to make a tool to remove the other two injectors. The IH dealer was not any help except they did have the new sleeves.
