Still cranking the A

I haven't been cranking since Friday. I took the governor apart then. Interesting little gadget. Inside there is a part called the thrust spring which pushes a 5/16 x 7/8 dowel pin into the front of the governor housing. The spring in mine was rusted in there and not doing anything so I managed to get it out in three pieces along with the pin. I did find a similar, but shorter spring at the hardware store and I have a longer dowel pin that I can make work. What does this spring and pin do? I can't see any purpose for them, but I don't think they would be there just for fun!

Don't know what part you're talking about. Probably the same for most of us on here which is why you didn't get a reply yet...

Anyway, I'm not sure if "close enough" is going to cut it. I think you can still get these parts new from a CaseIH dealer.

Even if the governor isn't working, the tractor will still run. It doesn't need the governor unless the engine has a load put to it.
