Sikeston, missouri Scrap yards

Hello,
Was wanting to stop at one in a few weeks with my FFA tractor team for parts. Is there a better one than the other? There seems to be a few in that town..

I think you mean "salvage yards". Scrap yards usually sell only to larger scrap yards or processors until the metal is reduced to a raw product to make a new product.

Best doesn't necessarily equate to price. Availability of what you need is the first threshold.

(quoted from post at 12:54:35 10/01/10) I can't help you, but you got to stop and eat at Lambert's Cafe while you are in Sikeston.

absolutely! I live 300 miles away and make a couple trips a year for lamberts alone.

Hope someone at the table is a decent catcher.

Not one of the three (or is it four) east of the freeway are worth a damn for most people on this board. I know one is a Worthington's branch. They are never a steal, but I don't know much about the others. I do know that when I visited them they were full of late model machines and combines. There wasn't much for a guy with something older than a 560 maybe even a 906.

There three salvage yards in sikeston mo. Worthington Ag, Missouri tractor parts formley Double D, and D&S tractor parts which is my favorite. All three are within a mile from each other. Acually Worthington and Missouri tractor are side by side. There is another yard about 15 miles from sikeston in East Prairie Mo, Bootheel tractor parts. D&S has about the largest selection IH tractors on the yard. If you go to sikeston it's a must to eat a Lamberts.

I agree that most all of the farm equipment salvage yards are just like the auto salvage yards and you find very little "old" stuff on their yard. After the particular model quits being used in main operations, basicly 806 era in IHC products, it goes to the crusher. Very few salvage yards are left that have much pre 1960's equipment,

I agree about JP Salvage. John and his crew do a great job. And all are very "savoy" about IH tractors and equipment.

Thanks for all the info...
JP is awesome stopped there a couple of years ago.
We are coming from Texas going to INDY..
We will try for Lamberts...
Might check out Bootheel sp?

Try Hilltop Tractor salavage by Lamar, MO lots of old stuff that were I get my IH parts. 14173982816 is there number.
