OT: hydraulic cylinder on tilt-bed trailer

I purchased an H&H trailer w/manual tilt. The cylinder won"t function and I am wondering why couldn"t I add (if it is the problem) Hy-tran or similar fluid? 2005 model and I doubt if it would do any damage to seals. It is really dirty at the base, so I"m hoping is is simply a lack of fluid; maybe someone turned the relief petcock to far out. Opinions, suggestions? Thanks in advance for your input.

your H&h trailer is mfg. at marshfield Wi if you can"t get it to operate give the guys up there a call im sure they can help you with this problem

Graddyville, Iowa (Idiots Out Wandering Around)I just thought I wouldn't bother them again. My closest dealer is Monroe-worth the trip; a cute, sweet bartenderess sometimes, at a corner joint and the local brewery that I still haven't toured.

the fluid should work, usually they have just regular tractor hydraulic fluid in them, but elaborate here, im assuming that by manuel tilt, the trailer is one of those like a friend of mine has where you unlock it, back the machine a foot or 2 and the trailer will slowly tilt to the ground so you can back it off the trailer, are you saying the bed will not tilt, or the cylinder will not slow the tilt action?

That is Braddyville, Iowa. H&H trailer went belly up and were shut down due to tax fraud. The company was purchased by another trailer manufacturing company, I think from Indiana, but will be doing business in Clarinda, Iowa, and are using the H&H name.

The tilt mechanism is akin to a large bottle jack. About five years ago I had purchased new an H&H w/electric lift. Great system as no monkeying w/ramps and a row-crop is more on-off w/o a third ramp. Quiet towing, lots of pockets and very well made. I had rented one and I got sold on that brand. Sold it a couple years later for $75 less than I paid for it. Best deal I ever made! Good thing I sold it as I would have had too many tractors. Trailer has beat-up fenders, light replaced and license plate holder/light is half there, but hey, those things are minor; except that license plate thing to a state trooper. I pump the cylinder and it won't do anything. The tilt function is ok, however I haven't eaten enough pie so I can't stand on the tail end and get it to tilt. Imagine that!!
